“As a neutral third party, zumBrunnen added an extra dimension to our team and helped us bring a $14 million project in under budget and on schedule. I was very pleased with the professionalism of zumBrunnen’s project manager, and the value he added to the team.”

Munising Hospital in Michigan needed assistance negotiating a contract for their $14 million replacement facility. The client also needed help monitoring construction and addressing unexpected schedule delays during the project.
As a neutral third party, Bill Pippine, zumBrunnen’s Senior Project Manager, helped the team broker a lump sum contract in a few days (versus weeks) using a standard AIA document. This streamlined negotiation process saved a month of review time and related attorney fees.
During construction, Pippine served as a liaison with the architect, contractor, and owner – keeping things under control with his depth of knowledge and experience. “Bill did a thorough job of reviewing documents, working with the team, and expediting project issues,” said Ric Sanderson, President, Sundance Design and General Contractors.
When unexpected delays threatened to throw off the schedule, the team came up with a unique solution of constructing “half” the building – allowing crews to work inside, protected from the extreme northern winters, while the other half could be constructed weather-permitting. With Pippine’s involvement on the team, the contractor was able to move more swiftly – still completing the project on time and under budget.
