The LeadingAge Arizona Annual Conference & Exposition will be held June 3-5, 2015 at the We-Ko-Pa Resort & Conference Center in Scottsdale, AZ. Doug McMillan, P.E., President of zumBrunnen, will co-present an educational session with Mary Munoz, Managing Director of Ziegler. The session is titled “360-Degree Capital Planning”, and it will be held on Wednesday, June 3 from 2:45 PM to 3:45 PM.

zumBrunnen, a leading building consulting firm in the senior living market, will discuss the tools and models they use to help organizations thoroughly evaluate facilities and develop accurate projections of repair and replacement needs. Ziegler, a full-service specialty investment firm with vast experience in the senior living sector, will discuss capital planning and financing topics. The presentation will focus on management and Board roles in the comprehensive capital planning process. Attendees will learn about the capital replacement study process and how to utilize findings. The speakers will explain how to assess feasibility for projects and discuss the process of obtaining financing for a complex combination of projects. The speakers will also share “lessons learned” with examples of benefits and pitfalls from the capital planning process.

The LeadingAge Pennsylvania Annual Conference & Exposition will be held June 17-19, 2015 at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey, PA. Doug McMillan, P.E., President of zumBrunnen will co-present an educational session with Bernadette O’Toole, Partner with CliftonLarsonAllen. The session is titled “A Pathway to Successful Facility and Strategic Planning”, and it will be held on June 17 from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
A Pathway to Successful Facility and Strategic Planning:
This session explains how facility assessments and capital replacement funding plans are essential elements to help an organization objectively model and validate a renovation, repositioning or replacement of a building or an entire community. The speakers will discuss how to evaluate an organization’s physical health, financial strength and capacity to access capital. Attendees will gain an understanding of the philosophies and methodologies that financial advisors and engineers use to strategically plan for new services and capital improvements.

Doug McMillan, P.E., is President of zumBrunnen, Inc. He began his engineering career in 1980, and he joined zumBrunnen, Inc. in 1998. McMillan received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. He is a former Resident Engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and he is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
